An extensive enrichment program is being planned for adults and a scientific oriented activities program is being developed for children. These full programs will operate the days the ship is at sea. These programs are designed to complement, not replace, the enrichment activities offered by the cruise line. Lectures and hands on activities for adults will take place in the main showroom, the lecture center and smaller activity rooms depending on the size of the group. Demonstrations and exhibits will be available in the upper observatory lounge of the ship. These will include an extensive weather station, including satellite and internet access. The station will be staffed by the cruises chief eclipse weather weather guy, Alister Lyng from Weather Canada. A ship board amateur radio station will be on display, an internet center will be available for guests. Displays will include meteorites, Astronomy and Eclipse Art and state of the art telescope equipment. A questionnaire has been sent to every guest seeking their interest and level of education and experience in various topics related to Eclipse, Astronomy and other earth sciences. A copy of the questionnaire is available for download here:
We are looking for experienced speakers, from a variety to disciplines, to give lectures, demonstrations and sit on panels. Topics include (but are not limited to): Eclipses, Astronomy and related fields, Manned space flight, Oceanography, Geology and Alternative energy. We are open to suggestions for other topics and welcome your input. We are also looking for one or two experienced people (a couple preferred) to head up our children's activities program. Guests interested in giving lectures, demonstrations or a display are asked to read the following document: Enrichment staff includes the following people. New names will be added as their participation is confirmed.
