Mayhugh Travel, Inc. is operated by Roy and Bonnie Mayhugh. Developing and marketing Astronomy Vacations is what we do. We are located in Ridgecrest, California, situated in the California "high desert", about 150 miles north of Los Angeles.

Roy has had a life long passion for astronomy. His father gave him his first "real" telescope in 1960. It was a hand made 4 inch acromat refractor. He studied Aerospace Engineering at Northrup Institute of Technology but spent most of his working life in broadcast engineering and management. At first Bonnie "tolerated" Roy's passion but has since learned to enjoy it too.

We're basically astronomy buffs that started selling travel because we couldn't find a travel agent that really understood the particular requirements of mixing astronomy with one's vacation. Our first involvement with selling group travel services in 1989 when the radio stations and newspapers he owned joined forces with a local travel agency to market theme cruises. Over the years, we have developed and/or marketed 25 total eclipse vacations and numerous astronomy related programs.

"One thing that motivated me to start selling astronomy travel was, what I saw as, price gouging by some in the field. I knew about what these programs should cost and, in my opinion, some of the mark-ups were, frankly, obscene! Mayhugh Travel is a member of the following trade associations:

• CLIA - or Cruise Lines International Association. CLIA is the oldest and most recognized trade association in leisure travel with an emphasis on cruise travel. It provides access to travel agent training and reference material as well as a problem resolution program for the public.
• California Seller of Travel Program - we are registered with the California Secretary of State and participate in the Travel Restitution Fund. This provides our California clients an added level of assurance. CST# 2049910-40

The Travel Consumer Restitution Notice

You the passenger may request reimbursement from TCRC if you are owed a refund of more than $50. for transportation or travel services which was not refunded in a timely manner by a seller of travel who was registered and participating in the TCRC at the time of sale. The maximum amount which may be paid by the TCRC to any passenger is the total amount paid on behalf of the passenger to the seller of travel, not to exceed $15,000.

A claim must be submitted to the TCRC within six months after the scheduled completion date of the travel. A claim must include sufficient information and documentation to prove your claim and a $35. processing fee. You must agree to waive your right to other civil remedies against a registered participant seller of travel for matters arising out of a sale for which you file a claim with the TCRC, if you were in California at the time of the sale.
